TOP PLACES TO SHOP FOR YOUR HOME

I've compiled a list of my go-to resources for furniture and decor - all of which are open to the public.

You may be familiar with the majority of these sites, but I do hope you'll find one or two new-to-you places on this list.

I've broken these resources down by price, from high-end to budget-conscious. Resources with an asterisk also have retail locations throughout the country.

HIGH-END RESOURCES

Gorgeous, classic, and rich with texture and style. It's hard not to love this brand. Don't be afraid to peruse the kids and teen sites too, even if you don't have children. I've often found pieces I love on the kids sites that universally fit grown-up decor and style.

Very similar to Restoration Hardware in quality and style. If you like, RH, this company is definitely worth a look.

Comfortable, customizable, modern furnishings. You can feel the luxury at first click.

Yep, just like the gourmet kitchen store. The same quality and luxe you would expect from a Le Creuset dutch oven ... but in furniture!

This website just makes me happy. Bright, airy, and fresh - that's what their designs feel like to me. Be sure to check out their wallpaper line. So pretty!

If Pottery Barn and Lamps Plus had a baby, you would get Rejuvenation. Part of the Williams Sonoma Brand of stores, I love their lighting in particular. They've got other fun finds too, like hardware and faucets (and furniture), but their lighting is where it's at.

I love Anthro for their clothing, and their home decor and furniture lines share the same richness and style you would expect on a hanger. I would describe their collection as a little bit modern and a little bohemian. Luxury fabrics, delicate ceramics, and a blue velvet sofa that is to-die-for.

MID-PRICE RESOURCES

This one seems to be the most evergreen of resources. Heck, even Target is inspired by their goods. And ... I have to admit, their kids lines are one of my absolute faves.

Ballard is one of those stores I love as much as Pottery Barn. They keep up with the trends and always seem to be adding new and unique items to their line-up. Even if you don't have a retail store in your area, their catalogues can easily be delivered to your mailbox.

The modern little sister to the Williams Sonoma brand ... West Elm tends to be my go-to resource for bookshelf decor, throw pillows, rugs, and off-the-shelf drapes.

Rugs, rugs, and more rugs. I love their rugs! They do have furniture and decor items too, but their rug selection is neutral and sophisticated.

Crate & Barrel has been around since before I was born. In fact, one of my most-prized sets of ceramic mixing bowls was handed down from my mom's kitchen. Whether searching for your bedroom, living room, or outdoor space, they've got it all. Certain pieces can be customized and they always have a lovely selection of home decor items as well. Check out their sister company CB2 for a more modern take on their products.

Also a part of the Crate & Barrel family, Land of Nod is geared toward kiddos. I love their line of Jenny Lind inspired beds, desks, and side tables (I'm a sucker for old things made new). They've also got a fantastic selection of crates and organizers for toys and books!

Looking for that perfect piece of art for the blank wall you've been staring at? Art.com probably has what you need. I will say this - searching this site can be overwhelming at first, so make sure you're not in a rush. Once you find a piece you like, you can check out their framing options too.

Did you know that Nordstrom Rack carries items for your home? They do! I will say there is much more to choose from online than there typically is in store, and just like in-store, you might have to hunt a little for a diamond in the rough.

BUDGET-FRIENDLY RESOURCES

I could spend hours in Target, especially if my kids aren't with me. When it comes to home decor they have thoroughly stepped up their game in the last decade. Also, Magnolia Home. Who doesn't love a little Chip and Joanna at their favorite retailer?? Target has my heart. I love their selection of lamps, rugs, decor goodies, and their kids line - Pillowfort. You can even find more than what's in store at Target.com.

More of a "global market," Cost Plus World Market has really evolved over the years. You can certainly find unique items here, but they also have a fantastic selection of moderately priced dining tables and chairs, throw pillows, and baskets for days. Keep you eye out for the specials they run and you'll get even more of a bargain.

Pier 1 tends to be my go-to for throw pillows. I mean, when you create an entire wall of nothing but pillows of all colors, shapes, and textures, you deserve a shout-out. They carry a fairly large selection of chairs as well - but beware - you may want to see them live before you order - not all of their chairs are designed with ultimate comfort in mind. They too, offer coupons and sales regularly throughout the year so if there's a piece you have your eye on, wait for a sale if you have the time.

This company used to have their own catalogue, but recently merged with Home Depot and can now be found on the Home Depot website. Many of their items remind me of Ballard Designs, but at a lower price point. Definitely worth checking out.

Not everyone loves Ikea, but I am a fan for sure. Ikea is one of those places where you find items you never knew you needed. It's also a great resource for textiles - rugs, drapes, and fabric. Plus, their bookcases can be used for so. many. things.

I'll be honest, sometimes Hobby Lobby can be a little on the tacky side for my taste ... but only in a, there's-word-art-on-every-item, kind of way. Don't get me wrong, I do shop here because they also carry some hidden gems you can't find anywhere else. I love their selection of mirrors, chalkboards, hooks, drawer pulls, and candle holders. And they have some pretty cute kids decor items as well.

Again, Kirkland's can be a little more like Hobby Lobby in terms of word art, but they do also have a great selection of mirrors and other decor worth checking out. In my opinion, it's worth a stop because you never know what you might find.

Home Goods is like the mother ship of home decor. In recent years, I've noticed they seem to carry more and more furniture each time I visit. My go-to sections are always lamps, throw pillows, rugs, and furniture - usually in that order. You can get lost in Home Goods pretty easily by looking at every overstuffed aisle of decor, so try to have a plan before you go. Know exactly what you're looking for and you'll determine pretty quickly if they have it or not.

I do love a good deal and these sites offer just that. 99% of the time if I'm working with a client on a strict budget, I can find what I need here. Beware, however, that not everything you order comes in perfect condition. I've seen more than a handful of items arrive damaged, but their customer service is amazing. They'll often ship out a new item to you right away and let you keep the damaged item (to give away or sell). That's pretty hard to beat. Also, they have incredibly fast shipping, which is a bonus if you're impatient, like I am.

Similar in nature to Wayfair, Overstock is online-only merchandise at a significant discount. One of my favorite items to shop for on this site is rugs. I don't believe you need to spend a fortune on area rugs to get high quality and beauty. This site is perfect for that. They also have great lighting options too.

If you're building, remodeling, or just want to spruce up your outdated fixtures, this is a great resource to remember. They've got faucets, light fixtures, and hardware. They even have kitchen appliances. Sometimes it's nice to have an online alternative to the selection at big box stores.

FLASH SITES

If you're not familiar with flash sites - they have great deals on a specific number of items for a specific amount of time. That means, if you see something you love, you better snag it or it might be gone.

I have personally tried more than a handful of flash sites out there and keep coming back to the same three:

Every time I receive an email from Dot & Bo, I have to stop and look at it. I love the way they combine their products into categories that are eye-catching and super easy to see how things within their site fit together. They've got a super selection of more modern pieces, but you can also find rustic, farmhouse, industrial, and other styles highlighted too.

Love farmhouse decor, but don't want to pay high-end farmhouse prices? This site should be on your list for sure. I have purchased several items from this website and have yet to be disappointed. You must move quickly, however, because they only send one "steal" per day. If you don't jump on it then, you miss out. Also, I love that their shipping is only $5 per item - no matter what you order.

ONLINE ONLY RESOURCES

I love the hunt for the perfect piece, and sometimes it's most rewarding when you can find either a one-of-a-kind item, or an item that's listed for way below retail.

Here are a few of my favorite websites to look for those treasured finds.

I discovered Chairish this last year and immediately fell in love. It's essentially an online consignment shop for all things home. My first purchase was a pair of original old barn doors from Illinois that I plan to use in my new office. You have the option to "make an offer" on items if you don't love the price, and they offer white glove delivery. This is what I would call, dangerously good.

I love Etsy. You can find just about anything on this site and feel good about your purchase simultaneously because Etsy is made up of incredibly talented artisans who love what they do. I've found everything from custom tables, to downloadable artwork and everything in between.

There are tons of Buy/Sell/Trade groups in my local area (probably yours too), but I tend to visit Marketplace the most as it consistently delivers. You can save items for later and reach out directly via private message to the person selling. It's just like Craigslist, but because it's connected to Facebook, you can identify the person buying or selling before you show up on their doorstep.

OTHER IDEAS

Some of my favorite Saturdays have been spent at garage sales, flea markets, and antique stores. My theory is, "it never hurts to stop and look." Some of my very favorite furniture and decor items over the years have come from antique stores. No matter what the style of a home is, a vintage piece can take the space from fine to fabulous. The key is patience and perhaps a willingness to think outside the box a little.

I hope you find these resources useful!

If there's a place you love and it's not on this list - please feel free to shoot me an email to tell me about it! I can be reached at bobbi@bobbigregory.com.
