HARLOW HOUSE

Harlow House

Two years ago in January, I sat in the dark silence of the early morning, in my favorite chair by the dining room window. This had become part of my morning ritual - my place of quiet, rest, and prayer before the rest of the house starting stirring.

My early morning spot.

On that cold winter morning, as I sipped my first cup of coffee, I heard one very clear sentence: "It's time to move."

A quick background story: At that moment - January 2017 - my husband, Bryan, and our two daughters, Taylor and Kate, had moved more times than anyone should in three short years. We uprooted from Northern California in the spring of 2014 to Phoenix, only to reconsider in the spring of 2015 and move again. On the heels of exploring where to go next, we made the decision to make Tennessee our permanent home. The place where we would put down roots and be settled once and for all.

Even though we'd been in our Tennessee home just 18 short months at that point, I knew in my heart we would follow the prompt ... "It's time to move."

But where? Why?

We seemingly had everything we could possibly ever want or dream of in this current house. And yet, I had to follow my instinct.

So we did.

Which is what led us here. To the house we built from the ground up. A house that has stretched our faith, flexed our creative muscles, and given us the ability to craft a greater vision for our future.

In the midst of building, we dubbed this house the "Harlow House" after the name of our street, but this house represents so much more than just an address.

It’s the culmination of all the hard things we’ve walked through in the last decade (besides moving) and the celebration of what’s to come. The material foundation built on the symbolic foundation of our life. Faith and trust in the form of drywall and paint.

Really, it feels like a gift. And I want to share it with you.

We've only been in the house now for 7 months, and there is still so much to do to make it "home," but I hope you'll stick around for the unfolding of our story. And maybe, you'll even find similarities of your story within the context of ours.

No matter what brought you to this page, I'm glad you're here. Thanks for sharing in this journey with us.
